MEKTRA offers the semiconductor industry an economical option
to purchasing costly new testing equipment. Handlers rebuilt
by MEKTRA are guaranteed to look and perform like the
original equipment, but typically cost 40%-70% less than a
comparable new machine. And because we can customize the
rebuilding program to your specifications, our machines will
often exceed the manufacturer’s performance standards.
We use only top grade replacement parts that meet or surpass
the original specifications. Each machine undergoes a
rigorous testing process before we release it to the
customer. MEKTRA offers one of the most thorough rebuilding
programs in the industry and we take a great deal of pride in
our work.
Mechanical Rebuilding
MEKTRA’s technicians first disassemble all moving
pieces, including any parts that come into contact with the
integrated circuit. We thoroughly inspect all mechanisms,
including guides and tracks, for worn plating, burrs, and
defects. For smooth, frictionless movement of the integrated
circuit, we strip the old plating and either anodize or
replate with a thick coating of electrolys nickel, followed
by a four hour post bake at 500 degrees Fahrenheit to ensure
the highest Rockwell hardness. All input, test site and
output assemblies are properly aligned to accommodate the
rigors of handling today’s lightweight package styles.
All bearings—both roller and rulon—are replaced,
as are stretched belts and springs, and any other worn out
items.
Environmental Rebuilding
Testing equipment is subject to use under a wide temperature
range. With time gaskets, seals, and phenolic materials
become susceptible to cracking and scorching leading to
environmental instability. MEKTRA replaces all insulation
materials with high quality replacements. Cartridge, blanket
and air heaters are replaced as needed. Your rebuilt handler
will give superior performance under all standard
environmental conditions—from -55 degrees Celsius to
+155 degrees Celsius.
Electrical Rebuilding
To perform with optimum precision, the components of a
handler’s complex electrical system must communicate
with total accuracy. MEKTRA will align sensors and emitters
to ensure accurate timing of parts movement. We calibrate
RTD’s and heaters for precise temperature and
stability. All PC boards are measured to check the accuracy
of their input and output signals. Damaged boards are
repaired or replaced. After a thorough examination, we clean
or replace all solenoids, power supplies, stepper and fan
motors. Electrical connections are checked for cold solder or
poor connectivity to ensure a reliable signal. The handler is
then measured from top to bottom for proper ESD grounding.
Cosmetic Rebuilding
The pride we take in our work is reflected in the final touch
we put on all our rebuilt machines. After repairing any
damage to the handler sub-frame or outer panels, we sand,
prime, and repaint all parts to the original color scheme
(custom colors are available at the customers request). All
repainted parts are baked for a more durable finish.
Stenciled panels are screened to match the original design
and are then given a clear coat for durability. Our machines
perform like new and they should look that way as
well—inside and out!
MEKTRA’s technical staff understands the punishment
that your handler’s moving parts undergo during normal
operation. Our goal is to ensure that your company’s
testing equipment is mechanically sound and will continue to
perform to your satisfaction.
